Write down your questions first
Questions are easy to forget once a conversation starts. Spend ten minutes writing down what you most want to understand, starting with what matters most to you. Short, specific questions get clearer answers than broad ones.
- What you want to find out, in one or two sentences
- Any letters or decisions you do not understand
- Changes since your last decision, such as a new rating or retirement status
- Concerns about cost, process, or what happens next
- Who else, such as a spouse or caregiver, should be part of the conversation
Have the basics handy
You do not need to gather everything before you talk with us. Having a few key items nearby helps the conversation stay focused. If something is missing, say so. Staff can explain what tends to matter and what can wait.
- Your most recent VA rating decision letter, if you have one
- Any CRSC decision or denial letter you have received
- Basic details of your service and retirement, as you know them
- A short timeline of major events you want to discuss
- A notepad or document for writing down next steps
Share records safely
Use the secure Standfast portal when sharing documents. Public forms and comments are for general questions and contact details; keep medical details and identity numbers out of them.
- Never post records, ID numbers, or medical details in public comments or social media messages
- Upload records through https://app.standfastvg.com; use the preparation guide to organize what you have.
- Keep your originals and share copies only
- If you are unsure whether a message is really from Standfast, contact us through our website before replying
Choose a question, a callback, or a booking
There is more than one way to reach us, and the right one depends on how ready you feel. Pick the option that matches where you are today. You can always take another step later.
- Ask a question if you want a general answer before deciding anything
- Request a callback if you want to talk but prefer that someone reaches out at a time that works for you
- Book a consultation if you are ready to pick a specific time to discuss your situation
- Not sure? Start with a question. There is no wrong first step
Choose how to connect
Preparation takes a little time, but it helps you leave a conversation with clear next steps. When you are ready, choose the option that fits you. Our team will review your situation honestly and tell you what we see, including when we are not the right fit.
