When the 2027 rates will be published
CRSC does not have its own rate table. It uses the VA disability compensation table to value the percentage your branch approved as combat-related. So the question "what is the 2027 CRSC pay chart" has the same answer as "what are the 2027 VA compensation rates", and those follow a fixed sequence each year.
- October 14, 2026: the cost-of-living adjustment was announcedSocial Security announces the adjustment each October, after the September inflation figures are released. On October 14, 2026 it announced a 3.6 percent adjustment for 2027. The figure is posted on Social Security's cost-of-living adjustment page.
- After the announcement: VA publishes its tableIn past years VA compensation rates have risen by the same percentage as the Social Security adjustment, under a cost-of-living act Congress passes each year. VA then posts the new table on its compensation rates page. The current table carries a last-updated date of December 2, 2025.
- December 1, 2026: the new rates take effectThe rates on VA's page today are labeled effective December 1, 2025. The 2027 rates replace them one year later.
- Around the start of January 2027: the first payment at the new rateThe payment that covers December is the first one calculated at the new rate.
Until VA publishes the table, any 2027 dollar figure is an estimate. We will replace this section with the full table, checked line by line against VA's page, when it is published.
What changes for CRSC in 2027, and what does not
The table values rise. Every row of the VA table moves by the adjustment, so the value of each combat-related percentage moves with it.
The limits still apply. A CRSC payment cannot be more than the retired pay you waived to receive VA compensation, and Chapter 61 retirees have their own limit tied to years of service. For most retirees, military retired pay is adjusted for cost of living on the same date, so those limits move as well. The 2026 pay chart explains why a payment can be lower than the chart value.
Your combat-related percentage does not change. A new rate table does not add a condition or raise a percentage. That takes a decision from your branch. If you are already approved and think your award leaves something out, use the CRSC payment check.
No new application is needed for the annual adjustment. DFAS applies the new rates to existing awards.
Rates in effect now (effective December 1, 2025)
These are the rates CRSC uses today and will keep using through November 30, 2026. They are VA disability compensation rates, not individual CRSC award amounts. To see what a percentage is worth after the retired-pay limits, use the scenario finder on the 2026 pay chart (an email address is required to see results) or the CRSC calculator (contact details required to see results).

Back pay uses the rate for each past month
A new table does not reprice the past. DFAS pays each past month at the rate in effect that month, so a retroactive award that reaches back several years uses the 2026, 2025 and earlier tables for those months. The 2027 rates apply from December 2026 forward. The CRSC back pay timeline explains how far back an award can reach.
Common questions about the 2027 CRSC pay chart
Is there a CRSC pay chart for 2027 yet?
Not yet. When we checked on October 14, 2026, VA's compensation page still showed the rates effective December 1, 2025 and no 2027 table. CRSC has no separate chart of its own. It uses the VA compensation table to value your combat-related percentage, so the 2027 CRSC values will exist once VA publishes its 2027 rates.
When will the 2027 rates be published?
Social Security announces the cost-of-living adjustment each October, after the September inflation figures are released. On October 14, 2026, Social Security announced a 3.6 percent adjustment for 2027. VA has not yet published its 2027 compensation table; it publishes the new table after the announcement. VA's current table carries a last-updated date of December 2, 2025, the day after those rates took effect.
When do the 2027 rates take effect?
VA's annual rate change takes effect on December 1. The first payment at the new rate is the one that covers December, which arrives around the start of January.
Will my CRSC go up in 2027?
If your CRSC equals the VA table value for your approved combat-related percentage, it rises when the table rises. If a retired-pay limit sets your payment, it moves with that limit instead. For most retirees, military retired pay is adjusted for cost of living on the same date. The annual adjustment does not need a new application.
Does a new rate table change my back pay?
Only for the months it covers. DFAS pays each past month at the rate in effect that month, so months before December 2026 use the 2026, 2025 and earlier tables.
