A deep retiree community across every branch
Northeast Florida is anchored by Naval Air Station Jacksonville and Naval Station Mayport, with Blount Island Command supporting the Marine Corps and Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay just over the Georgia line. Camp Blanding serves the Florida National Guard, and Coast Guard units operate along the coast. Retirees here come from every branch, including Guard and Reserve retirees.
Because CRSC is decided by the branch you retired from, Jacksonville retirees end up in front of different boards. Navy and Marine Corps claims go to the Navy's CRSC board, Army retirees file with Human Resources Command, Air Force retirees file with the Air Force Personnel Center, and Coast Guard retirees file with the Coast Guard's Personnel Service Center. Start with your branch: Navy, Marine Corps, Army, Air Force or Coast Guard.
Fact patterns we look at for Northeast Florida retirees
- Aviation. Maritime patrol and helicopter aircrew injuries caused by the aircraft or flight duty may fit instrumentality of war or hazardous service.
- Surface and submarine service. Injuries caused by shipboard equipment can qualify when the equipment was the cause and the record shows it.
- Coast Guard operations. Rescue and boarding duties can fit hazardous service when documented.
- Guard and Reserve. Mobilization and annual training injuries can qualify, but eligibility depends on when retired pay begins. Read CRSC for Guard and Reserve retirees.
- Presumptive exposures. Agent Orange, Gulf War and other VA presumptive conditions are treated in a specific way. See presumptive conditions and CRSC.
CRSC in plain terms
CRSC is a tax-free monthly payment for eligible military retirees whose retired pay is reduced by VA disability compensation. The VA rates your conditions. Your branch decides whether each one is combat-related under 10 U.S.C. § 1413a, based on documents rather than opinion. A strong packet ties each condition to a specific event or qualifying duty, in the board's own terms. Read who is eligible.
Local resources worth knowing
Installation retired activities and retirement services offices can answer retired pay and SBP questions. VA health care facilities serve the Jacksonville area for treatment and records. County veterans service officers and accredited Veterans Service Organizations help with VA disability claims at no cost; Standfast does not file VA claims. After an approval, DFAS pays CRSC and posts it to myPay. We focus on the CRSC packet itself.

Frequently asked questions
Do Coast Guard retirees qualify for CRSC?
Yes, Coast Guard retirees can be eligible on the same statutory terms. Their claims go to the Coast Guard's Personnel Service Center rather than a DoD branch board.
I retired from the Florida National Guard. Can I get CRSC?
Possibly, once you are entitled to and receiving retired pay, which for non-regular retirees is generally at age 60 unless your eligibility age was reduced or you were medically retired. The condition must also be VA-rated and found combat-related.
Is Standfast affiliated with the Navy or VA?
No. We are a private, veteran-owned company, not affiliated with the VA, DoD, DFAS or any branch, and not a law firm, VSO or accredited agent.
Can you guarantee my CRSC approval?
No one can. Your branch's board decides every claim. We build the clearest, best-documented packet your records support and tell you honestly where the gaps are.
